SCA Logistics to create new distribution hub

19 January 2016

SCA Logistics has announced that they will be creating a new distribution hub at the Port of Sheerness.  The hub will make Sheerness the main distribution centre for the company in the United Kingdom.

RoRo vessels for the company will start to call at Sheerness and expect to ship 300,000 tonnes per year both to and from the Port.  SCA Logistics also report that warehouses close to the RoRo berth will enable swift loading and discharging operations.  The new connection is also expected to open up new possibilities for extended service for SCA Logistics’ forest industry customers.

Steve Harley, Terminal Manager in London commented:

‘The main advantages are that Sheerness is closer to the shipping lanes and the berths are largely unrestricted in terms of access.  This means that we can deliver shorter times per round trip on our vessels between Sweden, the UK and the Netherlands’.
